Volunteering is a great way to give back in the Upper Valley, learn more about our organization, and make a difference in the health outcomes of your neighbors. We are so incredibly grateful for the work of all of our volunteers! To learn more about current volunteer opportunities within the medical and dental clinic, read more below!
Volunteer in the Medical Clinic
Our ability to provide free care rests entirely on a dedicated group of volunteer licensed professionals. By joining our vibrant volunteer network and hosting a clinic on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, you have the opportunity to improve the health outcomes of individuals right here in our community. We are currently recruiting the below licensed professionals within the State of Vermont:
- Medical Doctors
- Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine
- Psychiatrists
- Clinical Psychologists
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers
- Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors
Please note that there is some flexibility within these time frames. Let us know how your schedule might align with ours!

Volunteer in the Dental Clinic
Volunteering with the Red Logan Dental Clinic is ideal for general dental practitioners or oral surgeons who are retired or working part-time. If you are an oral health practitioner who works full-time and is unable to volunteer on a regular basis, we’d love to connect with you to learn how we can partner to improve oral health access here in the Upper Valley! We are currently recruiting the below licensed professionals within the State of Vermont:
- Dentists
- Dental Hygienists
- Dental Assistants
The Application Process
In order to provide care under our roof, all of our essential licensed volunteers must: complete and submit their application to us via email (volunteers@goodnhc.org), have their application and proofs verified, be approved by our committees, and then be covered by our medical liability insurance.
This process naturally takes time, however at the end of it all, your time at our clinic allows us to care for more individuals who have delayed seeking out much needed medical, dental, and mental health care services. Thank you so much for your patience with this process! Here are the key steps to be aware of.
- Application & Supporting Documents (This is where we ask for your application, licensing information, and references. Once completed, please send all materials to us via email)
- Credentialing (Our staff verifies all credentials once we receive your completed application and proofs, including reference checks)
- Privileging (Our Medical Advisory Committee and Dental Advisory Committees approve volunteers and communicate the determination with you)
- Deeming (We apply for medical liability coverage from HRSA, and once approved, begin working with you to determine your clinic schedule and patient panel)
More Ways to Help
- Spread the word! Join us to help table at an event or hang up flyers at pre-assigned locations, businesses, and organizations throughout the community to ensure our neighbors know about the services we provide.
- Create opportunities for a Good Neighbor Health Clinic & Red Logan Dental Clinic staff or board member to speak to your business, faith group, or club! Creating awareness of the clinic within our community is an important part of the success of our organization. Contact us to let us know about how we can connect with your network.
- Host a “giving drive”! Invite community members and neighbors to bring items that can benefit those in need. Typical items we accept are unopened and unexpired shelf-stable food items, clothing and footwear in good condition, and personal hygiene supplies.

I joined Good Neighbor due to a strong desire to help improve our community by providing preventative care for patients who have been unable to access regular care due to financial constraints. I continue to volunteer here because I enjoy it – I appreciate the mission. I feel humbled and fortunate for the opportunity to care for our patients. I greatly enjoy working with the small and intimate team, and I’m inspired by the way they show up everyday to do this work which can be hard with less access to the resources found in a large health system. My motivation to continue working in healthcare comes from a feeling that there is constantly more we can do to help narrow the massive equity gap in our healthcare system that’s resulted in such significant disparity in disease outcomes as a function of financial status.

“I adore the Red Logan Dental Clinic. In the previous several months that I’ve volunteered, I have had the opportunity to help some people with some basic dentistry, as well as encouraging patients to improve their overall medical health connected to their dental care. I love the mission of the Red Logan Dental Clinic, and look forward to volunteering more in the future.”
