A bequest is a gift of money or personal or real property through a will or trust. If you’d like to make a significant gift to Good Neighbor Health Clinic (GNHC) without affecting your assets during your lifetime, you might consider including GNHC in your will or trust by:
- Giving a specific dollar amount or percentage of your estate through your will or trust
- Leaving a specific asset: stocks, mutual funds, real estate, artwork or other property
- Naming GNHC as a sole, partial, or contingent remainder beneficiary of a retirement plan, such as 401(k), 403(b), or IRA
- Naming GNHC as a sole, partial, or contingent beneficiary of a life insurance policy
- Recommending a custodian of your DAF that GNHC be considered as its successor beneficiary
If you include GNHC in your estate plan through the above ways, we prefer a simple two-step approach intended to give you greater flexibility.
- We will share recommended dispositive language for your will or trust, or you can add GNHC as a beneficiary of your retirement account, life insurance policy, or DAF.
- We then will work with you on a letter of instruction to accompany your estate gift that will include details on how you’d like your gift to impact GNHC. It’s GNHC’s stated policy to comply with any reasonable philanthropic wishes as set forth in writing. If in the future, you’d prefer a different purpose, all you need to do is contact us and we can ensure that your new wishes are put forth in writing using forms like a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or a similar document.
